Not to "toot" my own horn but I'm kicking ass this year when it comes to losing weight. I've lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks!!
My goal this year and well every year that I can remember is to get fit and lose weight. In April 2011 I started picking up daily 1400 calorie meals from this gym called Knuckle Up Fitness. The gym let me try a free personal training session and kickboxing class. So in May 2011 I began working out with Sarah my wonderful personal trainer/inspiration/motivator. In about 3-4 months time I lost 30 lbs! Yeah you're reading that correctly. But...I got sick of the "healthy meals" and started eating whatever I wanted to again. So a few pounds crept back on, but I continued to train with Sarah and started taking Kickboxing classes. Well the scale wasn't budging but I knew I had to be losing inches because my clothes were getting a little big on me.
It killed me that the scale wasn't showing my fitness results. But, I was becoming stronger and getting more physically fit. In fact I'm probably the strongest I've ever been. :) I needed to change something and I was almost ready to make it happen. So at the end of the year in December while my folks were visiting me in Atlanta for the holidays, I allowed myself to eat whatever the hell I wanted to. I Didn't hold back because I was still working out and I wanted to satisfy ever little last craving.
Now fast forward to January 2012. On January 8th I started eating better. I've been going to the grocery store every weekend to buy food for the following week. I pretty much control what I eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the occasional snack. I tried to eliminate all "white food/carbs" but I realized that was a bit unrealistic for me. So I've switched to multi grain everything. I wouldn't call this a diet but more of a lifestyle change. I have snuck in some unhealthy food here and there but I make up for it at the gym. Speaking of the gym, I now go 6 times a week. I have never in my life gone that many days! Monday/Wednesday is personal training sessions with Sarah who kicks my ass and makes me want to puke and cry (she says that's a good thing, lol) Tuesday/Thursday I take an hour long kickboxing class which is the best aggression getter-outer and lastly I go for a run/walk on the treadmill for an hour or more on Saturday and Sunday. I've been giving myself a little break on Fridays to rest.
I think I'm onto a good start. I'm the smallest I've been in a year or so and I'm damn proud. So proud in fact it keeps me going and striving to work harder and eat better. So yeah TOOT TOOT baby! This girl is on her way to skinnyville, come join me! -L
