Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day Everyone! As you may very well know I am a somewhat happy single female and this is my first Valentines Day in 3 years that I've been w/o a beau. To be honest today feels just the same as it did when I was in a relationship. My ex wasn't big on celebrating or acknowledging V day. I'm kind of okay with that, but since I LOVE flowers I always hope to get some. If no boy is gonna do that for me, I try and do it for myself. But I forgot this year. Instead I enjoyed my vday evening at the gym. My kickboxing class was actually quite full. I love kicking and punching the bag after work. It gets out so much stress.


At work today all 3 women in my department got flowers from their husbands/boyfriends. I will admit I was kind of jealous. The below picture is their 3 beautiful bouquets.

Good thing I love my co-workers and I am happy they each have such wonderful men in their lives. 

When I got home from kickboxing I was happy to find a little gift from my parents. They are truly the best valentines ever. I came home to a cute card and nice little heart shaped jewelry box. So today was a wonderful day whether it was Valentines or not. Oh and I also came home to some new flats that I ordered this weekend. I have the worlds worst ankle so I am always wearing flats at work. I can't wait to break these cute little shoes in. Is it spring yet??

The name change

Good Morning all! I have been rather busy the past week with work and then the stomach flu/bug from hell. But I'm back in action again. 


I have been thinking lately that "the l word" is not a good name for this blog. I was trying to be cheeky but most people will think this is a blog about "love" when really it's about me, Lauren. So with that said I'm still struggling to come up with a new blog name. Lately I've been thinking of calling it "letters to ruby". You must be asking me why this? Well, I have spoken about my former housekeeper Ruby in previous blogs and how she was a very important person in my life. With that said, I often find myself talking to her during the day and at times asking "ruby will you make it better or please watch out for me etc." So this blog would be notes to her and you my wonderful viewing public. We'll see. But do you have any suggestions? Please shoot me an idea!


So my life hasn't been to terrible exciting lately. I got sick last week with some weird flu/bug that had me out of commission for a week. On a positive note, I lost weight from lack of eating. Regardless of the week long bug I have continued to lose weight on my own. I am now officially the smallest I've been in about 2 years! This is very very exciting to me. That makes it 14 lbs in 5 weeks and 35 lbs since last April. Now that I've started eating healthier the weight is sliding off little by little. 


One last thing. I need to give a shout out to my wonderful parents who are celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary today! I am so proud of them for staying together and being wonderful and supporting parents. The list of adjectives I could use to describe them is endless. I hope to find a man to love and adore me just as much as my daddy loves my mommy! Good day- L
